The next major building project at the Ramsey Farms at Lesanville project is the recreation of the Lesanville church
being built north of the former Lesanville school building, moved back to the site.
The Mount Ayr Community school board officially released Chip BRUNDAGE from his contract for next year and hired Beverly
Lester to fill the secondary math position. LESTER is a 2002 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and graduated
from high school in Muscatine.
A Mount Ayr Community FFA member attended the 2002 Washington Leadership Conference June 17-24 n the national's capital.
Oakel PETTINGER of Tingley attended the conference.
A Mount Ayr dancer recently placed in the top second category in the national Talent on Parade finals held in Wichita,
KS. Tara BAKER of Mount Ayr scored between 84.5 and 89.4 points out of a possible 100 in her judging for her dance entry.
She represented The Dance Connection of Mount Ayr at the competition.
Lyall Technologies, a Group Dekko company which has a plant in Mount Ayr, celebrated Group Dekko's 50th anniversary
recently. The company began a two-week birthday celebration at each of its manufacturing plants Tuesday, June 18, that
included employees, customers, suppliers and communities it serves and supports.
Three Ringgold county residents were chosen to attend the Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge recently. Lyndon HAWKINS, Mark
TRULLINGER and Chance GREENMAN were chosen by the Mount Ayr American Legion and Sons of the American Legion to attend the
camp where some 715 students who will be seniors next year took part. HAWKINS is the son of Rick and Marilyn HAWKINS of
Mount Ayr. TRULLINGER is the son of Stephen and Gail TRULLINGER of Mount Ayr. GREENMAN is the son of Kirk GREENAMAN of
Mount Ayr.
Three seniors are participating on the Diagonal Maroon baseball team this summer. They include Wes STARLIN, Steven
GRACE and Jason STAMPS.
Water aerobics have been a huge success with nearly 30 in attendance for each class at the Judge Lewis Park swimming pool.
Due to the high rate of participation, a second class is being offered. Water aerobics is sponsored by the Sites for
Learning Program.
A Ringgold county 4-Her was on hand for the ground breaking for a new Extension 4-H Youth building at Iowa State
University in Ames. Landi McFARLAND of Ellston, is a state 4-H council member and assisted with the summer conference.
