All road building records in Ringgold County were shattered during the last year under the direction of county engineer M. A. RUBEK, his assistant, Walter STUCK, and members of the board of supervisors. From Jan. 1 to Dec. 1, 77.7 miles were graded and 73.2 miles surfaced. In addition the county built 22 bridges.

Richard PRENTIS was elected worshipful master of Faith Lodge No. 179, A.F.&A.M., at the stated communication of the organization held recently.

With the opening Friday of an up-to-date variety store in Corydon, the P.M. Place Stores Company now has the distinction of having eight stores in operation in Iowa and Missouri.

The Christmas City Circus yuletide parade and show will be presented on the public square in Mount Ayr Dec. 18 as a special holiday attraction under auspices of the Mount Ayr Businessmen's Club. The program will include acts by Jumbo the huge trained elephant, high school horses, four trained goats, trick dogs, a cowboy in roping stunts and antics by clowns.

District Court Judge George A. JOHNSTON of Creston died Saturday evening after suffering a heart attack that morning while in the business district. He was 75 years of age. He was the son of Andrew Duncan and Sarah Jane TEDFORD JOHNSON, and received his early education in the Redding and Tingley schools.

Benton -- Roy GRAHAM has taken over the Keith COLE filling station at Benton junction. COLE will be associated with the Firestone store at Mount Ayr.

Kellerton -- The Iowa Southern Utilities Company has installed some new street lights in Kellerton.

Northeast Rice -- The Harmony Club members and their families enjoyed a potluck supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. NICHOLS. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Howard TOWNSEND and family, Roy MILLER and family, Clifford FORCE and Sharon, Melvin MANNING and family, Quincy COMBS, Ira CAMPBELL and family, Weldon BARKER and family, Dale SCHLAPIA and family, Elza FETTY and Stevie and Mrs. Oma BARKER.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray STILL are the parents of twin sons, Mickey Dene and Dickey Gene, born Dec. 4 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon.
