The search for a new police officer for Mount Ayr continued at two recent meetings of the Mount Ayr city council.
The council has a number of problems in hiring a new officer. Doyle JAMISON of Winterset has been offered the
job, providing that he meets the testing requirements.
A ribbon cutting welcoming the Tingley Cafe as a new Ringgold county business was held this week in Tingley. Coletta
WEEDA cut the ribbon for the recognition of the business.
Lorrie ALLEN and Jim HARVER of Mount Ayr were married in a double ring ceremony held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at
the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.
The children and grandchildren of Raymond and Sandy WHITSON announce their parents' upcoming 25th wedding anniversary June
30.
A Grand River student, Cherrie FOLAND, was among 350 seniors from Central College in Pella who received degrees at
commencement.
Bud AYRES of Mount Ayr has retired from his position with GTE telephone company in Mount. Ayr May 29 was AYRES' last day on
the job. He started with Iowa State Telephone Co. in October 1966, about the same time Mount Ayr went to dial telephones.
Ten years of dance recitals for instructor Jane LAWHEAD came to a close with the "Life's A Dance" recital held in the
Mount Ayr Community high school auditorium. LAWHEAD has been teaching at the Ringgold School of Dance since she opened
it in 1983. Tracee HUTCHINSON will be taking over the classes next year.
