Jennifer BUTLER and J. P. WHITTINGTON reigned as queen and king of the Diagonal homecoming activities Friday night.
The boys basketball team won its first game of the season, beatint Linevill-Clio 57-52. J. P. WHITTINGTON led the
charge with 17 points and Matt STEPHENS added 15 points.
A wedding anniversary card shower is being held for Jack and Sandy MAIN of Mount Ayr in honor of their 25th anniverary.
The MAINS were married Feb. 23, 1969 at Luke Air Force Base, Phoenix, AZ.
A card shower is planned to remember Roger and Donna MORRISON of rural Mount Ayr on their 40th wedding anniversary. The
couple was married Feb. 14, 1954 in Tingley.
Lester and Dorothy SICKELS of Mount Ayr will observe their 64th wedding anniversary on Feb. 22. They were married in Clarinda
in 1930.
Navy Lt. Cmder. Robert O. WARD, son of Deloris M. WARD of Mount Ayr, Commanding Officer aboard the guided missle
cruiser USS Normandy, homeported in Staten Island, NY, recently participated in an emergency night evacuation of a
ferry passenger while on patrol in the Adriatic Sea for NATO Operation Safeguard.
With 258 wrestlers participating, the MAC Booster Club kids wrestling tournament was a big success Saturday. There were
38 peewee clases, 18 junior classes and 13 senior classes, including a class for girls in which Andrea LARSEN of
Clearfield took first place.
Ryan ROE of Mount Ayr placed second in the district Elks Club Hop Shoot at Red Oak Saturday. ROE put in 17 of 25 foul shots
to take the boys 10-11 year old category.
With their 46-35 win over I-35 last Friday night, the MAC boys basketball team clinched the title of the Pride of
Iowa conference for the 1993-94 season. Cody ROE hit five three-point shots in the game and Darrell STARK was tough on defense.
