A new assisted living complex called "Maple Ridge Assisted Living" will be opening in Mount Ayr in January, according
to owners Robert and Marlene HINZ. The 12-unit assisted living complex is being built to the west of the Mount Ayr Health
Care Center on the east side of Mount Ayr.
Two Mount Ayr Community FFA chapter members were named recipients of the
American FFA degree at the national FFA convention in Louisville, KY recently. Named to receive the highest degree in
FFA were Matt GILLILAND and Richard FARIS. Richard FARIS, a student in ag studies at Iowa State University, is the son
of Rodney and Elizabeth FARIS of Mount Ayr. Matt GILLILAND, the son of Mike and Debbie GILLILAND of Mount Ayr, is
currently studying to be a minister at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny.
As his final art project, Bay Lee STULL
and his family designed, cut, painted and attached the lettering to the front of the South Central Academy building.
