Mount Ayr Community school officials remind parents that the new Iowa State immunization law goes into effect
Tuesday, Jan. 3, the first day of the second semester. Under the new law, students in elementary, junior high
and high schools will not be admitted to classes until required immunizations have been received. Required are
at least three immunizations for diptheria, whooping cough and tetanus, three oral polio immunizations and one measles
and one rubelia immunization.
On Friday evening, November 18 at 7 p.m., Miss Vicky Ann FOX, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor C. FOX of Mount Ayr,
became the bride of Lyle Dean LEONARD, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donovan LEONARD of Clearfield, in a ceremony performed
at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Dick STEPHENS in Clearfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Rex KELLER of Diagonal will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 14, with an open house
at the Christian Church in Diagonal. The event will be hosted by their children, Emmett, Geneva, Illa Mae
and Keith and families.
Mrs. Doug (Wanda) HOSFIELD is the new office assistant in the Ringgold County Farm Bureau Office in Mount Ayr. She
assumed her duties today, Dec. 1, after taking two weeks training in the office under the direction of Phyllis DULANY,
who has resigned to accept another position.
The Mount Ayr chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, No. 356, elected Gayle BUCKNER worthy matron at their regular
meeting.
Dan DAY, Mount Ayr Community high school guidance counselor, was elected worshipful master of Faith Lodge A.F. & A.M.
No. 179 at the Mount Ayr Masonic Temple.
