The Ringgold County Health Improvement Association, sponsor of Blue Cross in Ringgold county, this week added
$100 to the fund being raised by the Mount Ayr Volunteer Fire Department for the purchase of a resucitator. The contribution
was authorized Tuesday afternoon and was turned over to Lyle DULANY, chairman of the promotion
committee for the fire department.
Mrs. Herman FENNEMA suffered face, hand and arm burns Tuesday evening, when a gas stove exploded. Whire the FENNEMAS
were at their cabin on Loch Ayr, Mrs. FENNEMA started to light the gas stove. The flame went out and when she attempted
to re-light it, the explosion occurred. She was broght to the Ringgold County Hospital for treatment.
W. E. KELLEY, of Middle Fork township, was re-elected president of the Ringgold County Farm Bureau during the annual
meeting of that organization held Wednesday night.
Forty-six neighbors and friends with 28 tractors, 15 pickups, five elevatiors, and 37 wagons picked 65 acres of corn on
Tuesday of last week for Herbert JACKSON of Kellerton, who was injured recently in a combine accident.
Ainslee E. HICKERSON, publisher of the Main Line Times, Upper Darby News and the Germantown Courier,
all in the suburban area of Philadelphia, PA, was recently elected vice-president of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers'
Association. Mr. HICKERSON was reared to manhood in Mount Ayr, graduated from the local high school in 1923 and received
his degree in journalism four years later at the State University of Iowa. He is a son of Mrs. Carl JACKSON of this
city.
Shirley GOINS received second place honors on ther entry in the KSIB record book award program presented Saturday at
Creston. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd GOINS of Diagonal, Shirley is a member of the Jolly Jinglers 4-H Clb and
president of the Ringgold county 4-H girls clubs. She was accompanied to Creston by her parents, her leader, Mrs.
George VICKER, and committeewoman, Mrs. Donald BUTT.
Mrs. Ray STANLEY was elected chairman of the girls county 4-H committee at a recent organization meeting of the group.
Mrs. Floy DRAKE was elected vice-chairman and Mrs. Frank HORNE, secretary.
