Louise WALKER of Kellerton, previously announced as state winner in the 4-H beautification of home grounds program,
Tuesday was named a national winner, one of eight who will received an expense paid trip to the National 4-H Congress
in Chicago. Louise's trip was in addition to the watch which she received for the best Iowa record. Both were provided
by Mrs. Charles WALGREEN of Chicago.
Madge DAVENPORT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. SMITH of Mount Ayr, and John B. KING, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy KING of
Mount Ayr, were united in marriage Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Church of Christ in Winterset.
Middle Fork township has again attained the honor of being the first township in Ringgold county to reach its quota
in the annual Farm Bureau membership drive. W. E. KELLEY serves as captain of the township and is assisted by Ora
JAMES, Claud RINEHART, Wayne HENSLEY, Sam AUSTIN, Merritt DENNEY and Ray JAMES.
Tingley high school students voted in favor of having a student council. President of the new student council, elected
by the junior class, is Dean BASTOW. Vice-president, elected by the senior class, is Alan O'NEAL. Other members are Kenneth
GROUT, elected by the sophomore class, James McINTOSH, elected by the freshman class, and Linda RICHARDS, elected by all
the classes.
The Mount Ayr Raiders boys basketball team, despite the spirited play of the Diagonal Maroons led by sophomore Roy BULLOCK,
were able to pound out a 75 to 69 victory, helped by a late scoring barrage in the final quarter. BULLOCK led all scores as he
popped in 27 points. Earl PICKENS tallied 22 points for Mount Ayr.
