MARY LOUISE (BUCKLIN) HAENTZE BRAMON

Mary Louise BRAMON.jpg
Mary Louise (BUCKLIN) HAENTZE

wife of James Harvey BRAMON, rural Delphos, Ringgold County, Iowa

Mary Louise was a descendant of the PEABODY family of the Peabody Institute fame. When honeymooning during her first marriage, she was in Chicago when President Abraham LINCOLN'S body was on public display prior to his burial in Springfield. Mary and her husband joined the long line of mourners who passed by the coffin and paid their respects. Mary later divorced and married second to James Harvey BRAMON. Although James never adopted Mary's son Charles by her first marriage, James raised the boy as though he was his own son.

Mary Louise's obituary may be found in Ringgold County's obituary collection. Her gravestone is pictured in the Iowa GenWeb Gravestone Photograph Project.
