I have an informal note from the Clerk of Court of Winneshiek County Iowa that Nancy Banning died May 11,1881. Her age was listed as 85 years, 2 months and 0 days. Based on this information, she should have been born March 11, 1796. The Clerk indicated that the record was such that it could not be copied. That note was dated March 9, 1973. I have not been to Iowa or had contact with the Clerk for 31 years. At the same time, I got a note regarding Mahala Blue Banning. I am now trying to find an obituary of Mahala Banning who died October 30, 1892. If we could find a copy of the Ossian Bee immediately subsequent to that date, there should be an obituary in the paper. Do you have any knowledge on how to get an obit?
