According to the Winneshiek Co. marriage records of 1856-1869 William M. French married Susan Taylor in 1862.
There is also a listing of Willson French married to Susan Gaylor in 1862. I doubt if this marriage is the one you are looking for.
Taylor was a very prominent name here in Freeport area at that time with Col.John W. Taylor having a large cabin complex in Canoe Township. I do not know if Susan was related to him but it may be possible.
