Henrik Resch Syvertsen was born in Christiania, Norway (now: Oslo) on March 1, 1834. At some point, he emigrated to the U.S. and took part in the civil war. He was wounded, and he was a disabled person when he died on May 18, 1867. To my knowledge, he died in Decorah, Iowa. According to the family tradition, a tombstone was erected on his grave. During a visit to Decorah a few years ago, I searched the cemetery in town for Henrik's grave, but could not find it. I presume he may well have been buried in a smaller cemetery in the countryside outside the town of Decorah. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who can provide information about where Henrik Resch Syvertsen's grave is - name and location of cemetery - provided the grave still exists. If any Decorah newspaper was published as early as 1867, I would be interested in learning if there would be any write-up about Henrik, or maybe an obit, to throw light on his fate. I live in Norway and do therefore not have the opportunity to explore this matter myself. Thank you.
