Dear Mary, You are in Califronia and I am in Texas.......wow! I agree with you. I believe that it is quite a stretch to think that there were 2 Sherman Ferris' in Wapello, Iowa during that time. I think that there is some kind of mistake about the 1875 death. I also agree with you about the war. Several sources have indicated that my Sherman Z Ferris served in the Civil War. If you can get someone to clear this up, it would be great.....let me know. Yes, I am certain that Coly is a nickname for Decolias. I just mentioned that to give additional fact that the "Decoliar" you found is part of my family. I really, really need to know the name of Sherman's mother. Would any documents in Wapello contain that information? (potentially at least) I really appreciate your help. Judy Ferris Jepsen
