Sherman Z. Ferris was my grandfather's step-brother. There seems to be some conflicting reports about him. I have information that that Wapello County records indicate that he died in 1875. However, I found Sherman Z. Ferris in the 1920 Federal Census for Washington (Pierce County) That shows that he was alive and still living with his wife of 46 years, Amanda (Manda) Fair Ferris. There are all kinds of stories out there........one that he was married to an E D Adams and had a daughter Lola Fair Adams, and there is a story that Manda was married to E D Adams and that Lola Fair Adams was her child. I also have an obituary on Amanda Fair, all of her children were listed, except for the one that died at a young age. Death records indicate that Sherman died in 1921 and Amanda died in 1937 in Washington state. I would like the correct story to be published, Thanks, Judy Ferris Jepsen
