Reading the obituary of Cynthia A Scott Troutman it states she was born in Tyler Co Virginia and she had 3 half-brothers & 1 half-sister. The 1820 and 1830 census for Tyler Co (West) Virginia has only one Scott listed & that being Stephen. My gg-grandfather being John Scott, born Feb 1819 in Tyler Co (West) Virginia, married Sep 1837 in Lee Co Iowa & could possibly be list (with wife & baby son) on the same page of the 1840 census as Stephen -- does anyone know if John is one of Cynthia's half-brothers ???
