The maiden name appears to be Beukelman according to obituaries posted to the query board for Sioux County.

January 8, 1948

Mr. John De Groot died late Sunday afternoon at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 6 days. He was born March 22, 1872 at Zeeland, Michigan and when a young boy moved with his family to Sioux County where he lived the past 70 years. During his early years he worked for the Telephone Co. and later for the De Ruyter Hawarder for nearly 30 years. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Willempje nee Beukelman who died in 1926. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Paul Veencamp and Gertrude who was home with her father. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

March 3, 1926

Willempje De Groot nee Beukelman died at 55 years and six months. She was born Aug 20, 1870 in Oud Beierland, Netherlands. In 1878 she came to America with her parents. First a short while in Sioux County, then the family moved around Douglas county, SD. In Dakota she married John De Groot. She lived in Sioux Center the last 29 years Also five sisters and two brothers survive. Childrens are John De Groot, Mrs. Paul Veencamp and Gertrude De Groot.

WINNIE VEENCAMP

Died: November 25, 1986, Sioux Center. Iowa
Services at the Vander Ploeg Chapel at 1:30 P.M. on Friday. November 28, 1986
Burial in The Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center. Iowa on Friday, November 28, 1986.

Mrs. Winnie Veencamp, age eighty-nine, passed away at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Wing on November 25, 1986.

Willempje (Winnie) was born on November 20, 1897 to Johan and Gijsbertje Schreurs in Orange City, Iowa. She was orphaned at an early age and was adopted by the John De Groot family of Sioux Center. She married Paul Veencamp on June 4, 1920 in Sioux Center and lived the rest of her life there. Mr. Veencamp died November 8, 1965. She became a resident of the Nursing Wing in 1974. She was a lifelong member of Central Reformed Church. She loved to garden, and friends and neighbors may remember her lovely flower garden.

Survivors include her son John Conrad of Cherokee, Iowa; her daughter Carol, Mrs. Norm Bastemeyer of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren: five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie Blake of Hawaii; Gertrude M. De Groot of Sioux Center: and one brother, Nick Dykstra of Sibley. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Willard John of Owatonna, Minnesota and one sister Sue, Mrs. William Hyink of Torrance, California.

Sioux Center News
June 12, 1991

Gertrude M. De Groot, 82, of Sioux Center died Tuesday June 4, at the Sioux Center Hospital Nursing Wing. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Sioux Center with the Rerv. John Postman officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Gertrude De Groot was born February 12, 1909 in Sioux Center. She attended Sioux Center Christian Grade School and graduated from Sioux Center High School. She was employed for many years at the Hasselo General Store and also was a sales clerk at De Ruyter Hardware Store, retiring in 1970. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Survivors include a nephew, John Conrad Veencamp of Cherokee and a niece Carol Veencamp Bastemeyer of West Des Moines.
