Hello Connie:
I see that there is a mistake in the spelling of the stone for Jennie on line, it should be VanOort. I will get that corrected. I don't know the reason for the variations in the names.
I can find no headstone indicated for Johannes died Oct 29, 1928.
There is no stone are marker listed on the 1939 WPA Index or on the 1979 Sioux County Index of headstones, or the site with the grave stone pictures done about 2005.
YOu could contact the City office of Orange City and see if they have a record available for him.
I found on line a birth of Mar 1876 in Iowa for Jennie. I will work on that some more as to the location.
I further have found her marriage Book 1 register of marriages page 147. Johannes VanOort 24 of born in the Netherlands, son of Jan VanOort and Hendrika Mouw married Jane Vellinga of Newkirk 19 yrs born at Newkirk? IA parents Wm Van Oort and Geeltje VanderPloeg Married March 16, 1894 by Rev. E. Breen.
I will check the Newkirk church book if I can find an exact birth date for you a bit later.
Do you have the obits of both Johannes and his wife?
