From the Sioux Center Centennial History Book "A People with Convictions, 1870-1991", The article on Gerrit Wesselink and Grada (Rensink) notes that Gerrit Wesselink came to Sioux County, Iowa as a single man with his brother's family from Greenleafton, Minnesota in 1872. His brother was Dirk Jan Wesselink. Dirk and his wife and four children settled on a homestead near Sioux Center. Gerrit homesteaded a farm two miles east of Sioux Center.
Gerrit and Grada had two children, Gerrit Jan born July 28, 1875 and Hendrik (Henry) born September 6, 1877. The names of the two children are the same on the Sioux Center First Reformed Church Records, Book #1. Gerrit Jan become a minister and after serving several churches, he became president of Central College in Pella, Iowa.
