Mary Rose (Hand) Barnes 1873-1967 Buried in Cresco, Iowa w/husband
married 1896: Andrew Barnes 1870-1959
This means that her father James Hand died when she was 4 years old. Her mother Catherine (Smith) Hand died when she was 15 years old and I believe she was taken in by her sister Mary Rose (Hand) Barnes who with her husband Andrew lived in Lawler, Iowa on the Hand family farm until 1936 and then moved to Cresco, Iowa. Mary Rose had a son buried in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel at Lawler in 1908. He was born in 1904 and was named George Barnes. So, he died the same year that Marietta was married and would have been her nephew. Marietta died young at 52 y.o. and her and Louis had at least 8 children in Lawler, Iowa.
