I see that Silas and Francis were married in February of 1905 in Greene, Iowa and Dale was born in December of 1905 in Greene, Iowa. His birth certificate should be in the Butler County Courthouse, talk to the clerk of court and you may have to prove you are a relative. Birth certificate will list real parents. Maybe he was not adopted and was their real son, he did not have any siblings either with the Ver Planks. Dale's tombstone says Verplank not Ver Plank. Good luck!!
