Driving Park Assn, New Sharon

I have in my possession a red cardboard in an octagonal shape (like a stop sign) with a string attached. It's imprinted with "New Sharon, Driving Park Association, New Sharon, Iowa, Summer Meeting 1891, Entitles Holder to Quarter Mile Stretch Privilege Only, July 4th, 1891, Use Tickets for Admission." Anybody know what this was for? Sounds like a drag strip race on a holiday.
