Re: Walworth

WALWORTH

In Response To: Walworth (Steve Hanken)

I have a grandfather, Thomas Baxter Wilson (all three names may be open to question), who was born around Alton, Illinois in 1882(?). His father abandoned the family when he was born, and his mother died when he was 5. He then went to live with an aunt and uncle, last name Walworth, in that area. (Tom left home when he was 12 and joined the railroad, something like joining the circus today). George W or H Walworth was apparently an early resident of Alton, and I was wondering if you had any descendant information that might be helpful. We have been looking for some link for 30 years! He also had a brother, named Charles Wilson, who moved to California and then Oregon, but we don't know where. The link to California was with a company that had previously destroyed all of their personnel records. This guy covered his tracks well, and we don't know why. The reference to the mob scene provided some possible reason, even though it was 60 years before. Any help would be appreciated.
