Walworth

WALWORTH

Looking for information on George H. Walworth and his family members. George died 2 September 1853 in either New Orleans or Texas. He was involved with the defenders of Elijah P. Lovejoy at Alton, Illinois when Lovejoy was shot and killed in the 1830's by a mob. (Lovejoy was probably the first death of a abolishionist over slavery.) In researching other people, I discovered that Walworths probate was handled in Dubuque, so I assume that George Walworth's family was residing there at that time. Interested in his activity between the time of Lovejoy's death and George's untimely death. George had also been a territorial Legislator for Iowa. Steve Hanken
