I don't know if the obit is correct or not. I tried to find an obit for Ida Borcherding, but was not successful. She died July 19, 1961 according to the Garnavillo City sexton records. I also attempted to find Ida and Henry on the 1925 Iowa State census, but again had no success. The 1925 census asks for the parents names.

I suspect that you are correct - I believe that Ida had a sister, Minnie Bugenhagen, wife of William Bugenhagen SR. Minnie's maiden name was Meyer. Unfortunately I didn't realize the significance at the time, and didn't write the source. Of course, Minnie and Ida could have had different fathers - so by itself, knowing Minnie's maiden name doesn't prove Ida also was a Meyer.

Hopefully someone will know if Henry's death notice, or your records are correct, and will have a supporting proof document to share.
