You're correct, that's not your Joseph but rather his son.

I do believe this is your Joseph's Findagrave entry, with correct birth date and location:

I also believe the rest of the information I gave you is correct.

Someone copied a submitted genealogy on Robert from Ancestry into Familysearch and here that is. Click on any individual for more detail and the arrows to go back previous generations. I can't vouch for it's accuracy.
