My 2nd g-grandmother (Rebecca Odell/Odetta Barnes) was supposedly born in Des Moines on April 10, 1854. I was hoping to find someone who could look for her birth record as I would like to know who her parents were (her mother may have been Elizabeth Barnes). Are you saying there were no birth records kept in the 1850s? Thank you for your help.
