Thank you for responding to my post. This is why I listed the Coleman name. Anna and Patrick McGinn (my great grandfather) were siblings. Patrick and his wife Bridget adopted the twins, John Alfred and James Wilfred. John Alfred is my maternal grandfather and Anna (McGinn) Coleman's nephew. My mother has remained in contact with the Coleman family over the years. How are you related to MaryAnn Crawl? I had the pleasure of speaking with her on the phone. She was very helpful.
Just today I received some information on the twins. Alfred and Wilfred Newton were born in April of 1890. Their parents were Frank W. Newton and Emma (Hazen) Newton. Frank either left or passed away and Emma subsequently married John Halverson. Emma passed away and the boys were put-up for adoption. In May of 1897, they were adopted by Patrick and Bridget McGinn. Patrick and Bridget changed their names to John Alfred and James Wilfred.
What is uncanny about Frank's name is that Alfred married Margaret Biscoe from PA and they lived for a few years in West Newton, PA. West Newton and Frank W. Newton? Hmmmm . . . any connection? I hope to locate information on Frank and Emma.
