Thank you for whatever help you can offer. I am looking for my grandfather and his birth parents. He was in an orphanage home and adopted when he was 7 by Patrick and Bridget McGinn from Melrose, IA. We believe his birth name was Alfred Newton and was born on 2/22/1895, although we are not sure of either the name or the date. Someone told us his birth certificate said "Newton or Halverson." His twin brother, also adopted by the McGinns, was named Wilfred Newton. When the McGinns adopted them, they changed their names to "John Alfred McGinn" and "James Wilfred McGinn."

Another problem is that we are not sure where they were adopted. We have been told Omaha Nebraska, somewhere in Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
