Thank you for responding to my query. These dates are appropriate. Charles Wiggins is my great-great-great-great-great grandfather. While he may have lived in the area now known as Jones County, I know no such jurisdiction existed at that time. I am trying to add properly sourced documents to my pedigree.

My question remains: What was the jurisdiction (French or Spanish Louisiana?) and where might existing records be?
