My ancestor Lawrence WIGGINS (DOB 1772), son of Charles WIGGINS (DOB 1755) and Ann SCHOMERHORN (DOB 1750), and married to Ellen WEBB (DOB 1779) were all born in what is now Jones County, Iowa. What was the name of the jurisdiction at the times of their births (Louisiana?) and where do I find their records, if they exist?
