Henry Dietrich Dirks was my great-uncle. He was born 6 August 1897 in Langworthy, Iowa. He married Louise M. Landherr on 2 November 1922 in Ryan, Iowa. He died 4 November 1976 in Anamosa, Iowa. Louise was born 16 February 1899 in Scotch Grove, Iowa and died on 15 October 1984 in Anamosa, Iowa. Henry and Louise had five children: Lenora, Doris, Joan, Margaret, and Virginia.

Henry’s parents were Gesche Margaretha Bodeker (b. 3 Jan 1859 in Ostriesland, Germany, d. 25 March 1936) and Dietrich Dirks (b. 2 Aug 1858 in Germany, d. 16 Mar 1940). They were married on 9 June 1880 in Hanover, Germany.

Henry was the ninth of ten children. My grandmother was the youngest of the ten.
