Henry D. not son of John H. Dirks - who is?

Joanne,

Your suspicions are correct about Henry D. (probably Dietrich) Dirks (1897-1976) not being the son of John H. Dirks and Maria "Mary" S. Wilken.

The 1900 census proves this as it shows John and Mary Dirks in Wayne township having just married (zero years) and having no children. This would hold true that Carl H. Dirks born 1901 was their first child. BTW... what would be the marriage date for John and Mary?

Now, being that Henry D___ Dirks married a Louise M. ____ ___and had child Lenora Adele born 1923 in Wayne, wonder if the 1925 census would tell who is his and her parents, or maybe a marriage cert between 1918-1923 in Wayne township?
