I see your confusion.
I assume that you have looked at all census on our website.
The John Hardiman connection is the most confusing to me. Perhaps you already have that under control. One of Thomas Head's wives is obviously John Hardiman's (b 1855 Ireland) mother.
Have you seen Thomas Head's will? This is a summary:
died Wash. Tsp., Jones Co., IA 2/15/1876
witnesses to will: Wm Gavin, Jr and Patrick Mullin
Thomas was 70 yrs old when he wrote the will.
He refers to his wife, Nancy(1885 census shows her as Nancy). He leaves 240 acres to her in a living trust. Then his sons, Thomas & Michael are to get it all.
He refers to 3 daughters (This is the confusing part)
Kate
Mary
Margaret Hardim (Hardiman?)
John Hardim (Hardiman?) gets two black horses only
The daughters got cash. Our Cascade newspaper index lists the following obits:
Michael Head 1/3/1877 son of Mrs. Thomas Head
Mrs. Thomas (Ann) Head 9/23/1878 pg 5 age 75
Thomas Head 6/14/1923 pg 4 age 66
Margaret Haardiman 2/25/1926 pg 5 78 yrs
Florence Haardiman, dau of John 2/22/1889 pg 8
Martin Head 1/01/1920 pg 4 age 82You can write(or call) to the Cascade Public Library for copies of these articles.
