My 3rd g-grandfather was George Frederick Bodenhafar who came to the US in 1828. I have spent many hours looking through the ship manifests and have found only one Bodenhofer (SP) listed and that is Johanna Jacob Bodenhofer 58 (DOB abt 1770) traveling with Christinea Rosina Bodenhofer 30. On that same list, a few lines down is a 17 year old (which matches) George Fred with the last name Dobler. His travel companions are 55 year old Christian Dobler, 44 year old Rosina D F Dobler, and 4 younger siblings.

I have never found any confirming evidence proving the relationship but I am looking at any possibilities. The age and name of Rosina D F Dobler could make her a sister of Christinea Rosina Bodenhofer. It seems unlikely that a 17 year old would be adopted but it is my only hint at this time. I have been following this and many other possibilities for many years and still no conformations.

Your 1799 Jacob could be a son but I still cannot link him to my Bodenhafer line.
