What information on the boys would you anticipate finding Donna? Obits as we know them today did not exist back then except for more prominent citizens of the locale. Often a notice of a death would appear as an article anywhere in the newspaper. Have you checked the next couple editions of the paper after the death of the boys? Have you viewed the 1885 state census for the family in Jones co? Where was the family in 1880? The 1895 Davenport census has a household of a James & Anna Kernan with 3 of the 4 children enumeratd as born in Jones co. but you forgot to include the ages & nativities for your James & Anna Kernan nor any other known family members. In 1900 these 4 Kernan children are living with an aunt in Illinois. Dick
