Judy,
Thank you so much for your data.
I do not feel I can share data on Arthur Reed and Martha/Mattie Spinks at this time. He does seem to be of the right age, and in the right place at the right time. I have been over all the records I can find for him and, at the moment, there is absolutely no concrete proof to link him to Enoch. I have no idea who the children of Arthur Reed were. I have been in contact with someone who told me the names of his children, but it was just through family tradition. Again, there is no proof at this time. Please do not identify Enoch's parents till we can prove it.
The one thing I know about Enoch's family was that he had a brother John who was a Baptist preacher in Tennessee, near Memphis, at the start of the Civil War. He and Enoch had big debates over slavery.
If you do not have it, you are going to want to get the Civil War Pension for Abel Jewett, widow Mary 7/16/1863 Application 27531 Certificate 17120 and Minors: 5/31/1871 Application 116626 Certificate 158723. Mary married Abel Jewett 2/24/1856 in Jones Co. IA. Abel Jewett died in Helena Arkansas December 13 1862 of diarrhea. She married Peter Pitsenbarger 3/5/1871 in Jones Co. He died 2/28/1883 in Dallas Co. IA. Mary Waldron Jewett Pitsenbarger was dropped from the pension roll December 12 1927 because of death. The foregoing information is all from the pension record. The pension also gives the birthdates of the children of Abel Jewett and Mary Waldron.
That's all for now.
Best wishes,
Sally Gray
