Judy,
Thanks for your response. James Waldron/Waldren did marry Mary Reed/Read, daughter of Enoch Reed and Ruth Cox. Enoch Reed and Ruth Cox married in North Carolina. She was disowned by Cane Creek Monthly Meeting in Orange, now Alamance Co. NC 1807, 3, 7 for marrying out of unity with the Quaker faith. Shortly thereafter, the Reeds, the Coxes, Redfe[a]rns, and others, migrated, and obtained land from the Chillicothe land office in Ross Co. OH. Ruth's father, Samuel Cox, died there in 1808, and her grandfather, Solomon Cox, died there in 1812. The land that Enoch Reed had became part of Jackson County when that county was formed. They lived there for several years before moving on to Indiana. I wanted to mention to you that the 1820 census of Jackson County OH shows a George Waldren living in Richland Township, the same township Enoch Reed was living in at the time. I do not know if this is the father of James, but it might be worth your while to pursue him further.
At any rate, Enoch moved on to Iowa, and died there. You can obtain a copy of his will from Jones County Iowa. Most of his children moved with him, but Enoch Jr. decided to move back to Marion County Indiana.
Please let me know if George does turn out to be the father of James. In the meantime, I would appreciate you telling me about the children of James and Mary Waldren.
Thanks so much,
Sally Gray
