Funeral services for Clifford William Leuchtenmacher, 72, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Rev. Bruce Hanson will officiate the service with burial in East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Pallbearers were Richard Scherf, Michael Scherf, Andy Suhr, Robert West, Timmy May, Troy May, Jeremy Leuchtenmacher and Chad Senner.
Clifford William Leuchtenmacher, son of John and Alma (Mueller) Leuchtenmacher, was born January 17, 1924, in Elkader, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the Mederville area. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Church.
Clifford served two years in the U.S. Army and is a WWII veteran.
He was united in marriage to Betty Lou Glawe June 20, 1947, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elkader. They farmed and raised their nine children in the St. Olaf area, retiring in 1992.
After a brief illness, Clifford died at Mercy Health Center in Dubuque Saturday morning, Nov. 2, 1996.
Survivors include his wife Betty of Elkader; five daughters, Carol (Loren) Scherf of Marquette, Patricia (John) Suhr of St. Olaf, Sandy (Robert) West of Chicago, Ill., Nancy (Bille) Beckett of Blue River, Wis., and Cindy (Denny) Senner of Hiawatha; four sons, Dennis of Elkader, David of St. Olaf, Danny and his friend Dee Dee of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and John and his wife Denise of Cresco; 23 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ellen (Leighton) Bente of Elkader and Inez (Herb) Friedlein of Farmersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Floyd, Wesley and Leslie.
