Services for Mrs. William Kauffman, 68, were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Sept. 25, at the Elkader Congregational Christian church with the Rev. David G. Howell, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the Brown cemetery north of Colesburg.
Pallbearers were Ralph Moser, Harry Barnhart, Elmer Moser, Merrill Smith, Russell Huggins and Orval Sullivan.
Mrs. Kauffman died Thursday morning, Sept. 22, at Finley hospital, Dubuque, from a malignancy in the pancreas. She had been confined to the hospital but three days.
Mrs. Kauffman was born Gertrude Alice Bolsinger on November 04, 1886, at Colesburg. She was a daughter of James K. P. and Ida M. Bolsinger. She grew to womanhood in that community and was educated in the Colesburg school.
On May 06, 1914, she was married to William Kauffman at Colesburg. Two daughters were born to them; Jeanne Mae (Mrs. Harold Miller) who lives near Colesburg and Coral Gertrude, deceased.
Mrs. Kauffman and her husband made their home on the old Kauffman homestead northeast of Colesburg for a number of years and then moved to Colesburg to live. They made their home in Elkader during the past eight years.
She was a member of the Congregational Christian church, of the Ladies Guild and of the Royal Neighbors.
Surviving, besides her husband and daughter, include two sisters, Mrs. Robert Bush of Elkader and Mrs. George Landis of Independence, and three brothers, Clyde and William Bolsinger of Colesburg and Edward Bolsinger of Manchester. There are nine grandchildren.
