Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 02, for Ole T. Olson, Nashua resident for 12 years, who died suddenly Wednesday at his home. He was 78.
Services were conducted at the old family home church, Norway Lutheran, at St. Olaf, Iowa, near Elkader, with Dr. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Burial was at Norway Lutheran cemetery at St. Olaf.
Ole T. Olson, son of Torkel Olson and Barbara Enderson, was born in Highland township, Clayton county, Jan. 20, 1877. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Marion Lutheran church.
He was united in marriage to Isabelle Johnson Sept. 23, 1899. To this union five children were born: three sons, Glenn B., Guttenberg; Theodore M., Miami, Fla.; Alvin C., Waterloo; and two daughters: Mrs. Mae Tesch, El Reno, Okla.; and Mrs. Viola (Carl) Schmidt of Nashua.
Ole farmed in Clayton county until 12 years ago, when he moved to Nashua. He was employed at the Sherman Nursery, Charles City, for about nine years, and had been in semi-retirement since.
He served as township trustee of Wagner township for many years, and was a member of the Norway Lutheran church until his death.
He had been in good health until suffering the heart attack, which proved fatal, June 29.
Mr. Olson is survived by his wife and the five children; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Nels, Elgin, Iowa; Emil, Phelps, Wis.; Henry, Clermont, Iowa; and Tom, Strawberry Point; three sisters: Mrs. Inga Anderson and Mrs. Selma Taylor, both of Clermont; and Mrs. Teolena Erickson, Wadena, Iowa. His father and mother and one brother preceded him in death.
The flower committee at the funeral consisted of Mrs. Alonzo Engelhardt and Mrs. Perry Benson. Music was by the Norway choir, with Glenda Landsgaard as soloist and Mrs. Theo. Thorson, organist.
The casket bearers were Harry Wold, Theo. Wold, Bud Strike, Henry Rierson, Bertin Juvic and Harry Cortright.
A prayer service was conducted in Nashua, at the Chenoweth funeral home, preceding the departure for the Norway church. The Rev. G. H. Brase conducted the service.
Interment was at Norway Lutheran cemetery.
