Funeral services for August A. Dohrer, 84 year-old retired farmer, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church in Elkader with the Rev. Paul Kitterer, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Eastside cemetery.
Dohrer was found dead at his home in Elkader, by his sister, Mrs. Fred Wistrick, shortly after 11 o'clock last Saturday morning.
He was born in Cox Creek township on September 24, 1870, a son of John A. and Fredericka Hammon Dohrer. In 1908 he was married to Tillie Meyer, who preceded him in death in 1953.
The couple farmed in the Elkader vicinity until 1914 when they moved to Elkader. Since his wife's death Dohrer had lived alone. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fred Wistrick of Elkader.
Dohrer was a member of Elkader Lodge No. 72 A.F. & A.M. Masonic rites were conducted at the Witt Funeral Chapel Monday evening by members of the lodge.
