Services for George Rothmeyer, 83, retired farmer, were held at 9:30 Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's church in Elkader. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. D. A. Gorman, pastor, officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. The Rev. John Peters of Waterloo was in the Sanctuary. The McTaggart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rothmeyer died at his home in Elkader. He was born April 05, 1872, in Boardman township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Rothmeyer. He married Margaret McGee Nov. 25, 1900. He farmed west of Elkader until he retired in the fall of 1942. His wife died July 02, 1935.

He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's church, also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name society. He helped organize the Elkader creamery and the Elkader Cooperative. He was a director in both companies for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph McTaggart and Mrs. Gerald Feeney, both of Elkader; a son Carl, of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Muench of Elkader and Mrs. Peter Schram of Papillion, Nebr.; a brother, Charles, of Monona; three grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

Pallbearers were Fred Kuehl, Wm. Ehrhardt, Carl Ehrhardt, Leo Keleher, Leo Cassutt, and Ray Welsh.
