Mrs. Maude Carney Herrick, second daughter of Sarah Olson Carney and William Carney, was born Sept. 13, 1895, at St. Olaf and died at her home Friday, April 22.
At an early age she was baptized and confirmed in the Norway church. She attended schools in St. Olaf, Prairie du Chien and Fredericksburg, and taught school for a time in Chickasaw county.
On Sept. 24, 1914, she was married to Harry M. Herrick of Fredericksburg. They made their home there for a time, later spent several years in Illinois, and in 1946 returned to St. Olaf, where they have since made their home.
She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Carney, three daughters: Saradel, Mrs. Ernest Champeny of Lake Geneva, Wis.; Dorothy, Mrs. Fred Kirchmeyer of Waukegan, Ill.; Billie, Mrs. Walter Rugland of St. Olaf; nine grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, John David, her father, William Carney, a sister, Mabel, and a brother, Dewey.
Services were held at the home of Mrs. Herrick's mother, Mrs. Sarah Carney, in St. Olaf, and at the Norway church with Pastor S. J. Strandjord officiating. The Rev. L. H. Messersmith of Milburn, Ill., Mrs. Herrick's former pastor, also spoke at the services. Pallbearers were Clarence Anderson, Harrison Wold, Roy Wm. Engelhardt, Otto Bankes, John Rugland and Eric Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were: Floyd Orvis and Ralph Barnum. Mrs. Don Wold, Mrs. Harvey Busch, Mrs. Otto Bankes and Mrs. Dean Orvis were in charge of flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Miller, Oregon, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Vallie Stone, Mr. and Mrs. James Costigan, Lawler.
