Marvin Carl Mueller, oldest child of Fred and Mary, nee Radloff, Mueller, was born in Read township, Clayton County, Iowa, on October 09, 1893. He was baptized Nov. 26, 1893, in the Zion Lutheran church at Clayton Center by the Rev. F. W. Seifert. He attended public school and also religious school, and on Feb. 24, 1907, he was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Clayton Center by the Rev. F. Linnenbuerger.
On September 14, 1915, he was united in marriage to Amanda Kluth by the Rev. Franke. After their marriage they moved to a small acreage near St. Olaf. Here they lived for five years, Mr. Mueller working as a mason during these years. Then they purchased a farm near there and for a while they were engaged in farming. In 1922 they moved to Farmersburg. For a while he worked as a mason; for the last 27 years he has been a railroad worker. Since 1927 they have lived in their present home.
Mr. Mueller was a member of St. John's Lutheran church at Farmersburg, serving on the church council for some years. He was a member of the Brotherhood since it was organized.
For the last seven months he has been under a doctor's care due to a heart ailment. Sunday evening, April 24, while visiting with his family he had a fatal heart attack at about 6:15. He had reached the age of 61 years, 6 months and 15 days.
He was preceded in death by his mother, who died in 1937, and by a grandson, Mark Knapp, who died shortly after birth Oct. 27, 1949.
Survivors include his wife; his three children, MaLloyd of Elkader, Orval of Farmersburg, and Arlene (Mrs. Harry Knapp) of Farmersburg; four grandchildren, Karen and Ronald of Farmersburg, Thomas Mueller of Elkader, and Michael Knapp of Farmersburg; two daughters-in-law, Clarion (Mrs. MaLloyd Mueller) of Elkader, Maxine (Mrs. Orval Mueller) of Farmersburg; a son-in-law, Harry Knapp (with the U.S. Navy in Argentia, Newfoundland; his father, Fred Mueller of Farmersburg; five sisters, Ella ( Mrs. Wm. Lubbers) of Postville, Linda (Mrs. Harvey Klasen) of Farmersburg, Marie (Mrs. George Pixler) of Dubuque, Lucy (Mrs. Arlo Johanningmeier) of McGregor, and Alice (Mrs. John Kiple) of Garnavillo; three brothers, Fritz and Carl of Farmersburg and Louis of Luana.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 28, 1955, at 1:45 p.m. from his home, and 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church, Farmersburg, Iowa. Burial was at Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery.
