Clayton County Register, 21 April 1955.

Henry A. Hartman, the son of Henry and Dorothea Hartman, was born Feb. 02, 1891, at Seward County, Nebr., and died in an accident Saturday, April 16, 1955 in Clayton county, Iowa, at the age of sixty-four years, two months and fourteen days.

Mr. Hartman was united in marriage on April 07, 1915, at Elkader, to Alma Wilhelmina Reinhardt. Three children were born to this union, Vernon, who died in infancy, Mrs. Arlene Anderson of Ossian, and Clarence Henry of Knoxville.

The Hartman family came to Elkader to live in 1929. He was employed by the county as a road maintenance man.

Although afflicted with a muscle ailment, which made it difficult for him to get around he never complained or shirked in doing his duty.

Henry was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church.

Survivors include his wife, his daughter Arlene and son Clarence, one sister, Minnie Hartman Bredow, of Seward, Nebr., and five grandchildren.

His parents and two brothers, George and Herbert, preceded him in death.

Services were held from Peace E. and R. church Tuesday afternoon, at two o'clock. Burial was in East Side cemetery. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated at the services.

Although the obituary gives burial in East Side cemetery, his inscription is on a gravestone in the Seward Cemetery, Seward co., NE with Alma Hartman who died in 1982. Interested researchers should determine if he was reburied with Alma when she passed away.
