Laura Eloise Knudson, youngest daughter of Embert and Magdalena Knudson, was born in St. Olaf Aug. 30, 1886, and died at the Evanston hospital in Evanston, Ill., Feb. 25, 1955, at the age of 68. Death was caused by a heart attack.
Laura was baptized and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church. She attended the St. Olaf school and worked in St. Olaf and Elkader until 1937, when she went to Evanston and for the past 18 years she has worked for Mr. and Mrs. Linton Melvin. She spent the summers in St. Olaf, making her home with her sister, Mina.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Wm. Carney and Elmer Knudson, all of St. Olaf. Survivors include three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Mina Orvis and Mrs. Clara Wilke of St. Olaf, Mrs. Emma Olson of Clermont and Earl Knudson of Clear Lake, Iowa. Also six nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services were held at the Norway church Tuesday afternoon. Pallbearers were: Harry Herrick, Harvey Busch, Elmer Wilke, Henry Wilke, Vernett Embretson and Orvin Embretson.
