Hallie Dettmann was born May 27, 1874, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dettmann, on a farm west of Garnavillo.

She attended West Side school and was confirmed by the Rev. Dirckoff of St. Paul Lutheran church. She was married Feb. 19, 1903 to Frank Brownson. They moved to a farm near Pleasanton, Kan., where they lived for two years. They then moved to Holt, Mo., where Mr. Brownson died in October 1906. Mrs. Brownson returned to the Garnavillo community and spent the remainder of her life there. For the past year and a half she had been a patient in the Bolin Nursing home in Manchester, where she died Friday afternoon.

She was buried Monday with services at the Tuecke funeral home, Garnavillo, at 1:30 and at the Gospel Hall at 2. The services were in charge of L. H. Brandt and burial was in National cemetery.

She is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Amelia Schmidt, Mrs. Nora Flagel, Mrs. Clara Roebken, Mrs. Alta Cherne, and Mrs. Rachel Coffman, all of Garnavillo, and by two brothers, Willian Dettmann of Monona and Walter Dettmann of Luana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother Elmer who died December 16, 1951 and by her parents.
