Earl Walter, son of Henry Walter and his wife Eva, nee Jones, was born Oct. 10, 1896 in Wagner township, Clayton county, Iowa. Here also he spent the early years of his life and attended the public schools.
He was united in marriage to Theresa Oelke on Oct. 17, 1916. They have one son, Chester.
For several years they lived on a farm north of Farmersburg, then they moved to Farmersburg; where they continued to live until July, 1942, when they moved to Williamsville, New York, where they entered the delicatessen business.
While he lived here in Farmersburg he became a member of St. John's Lutheran church and was baptized and confirmed 0n May 1_, 1937, by the Rev. H. M. Adix.
The deceased had been in good health. Quite unexpectedly he suffered a severe heart attack on Monday, Feb. 02. He died Tuesday, Feb. 03. He was 56 years, 3 months and 23 days old. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister Gertrude and a brother Ernest.
Survivors are his wife; his son Chester; two brothers: Joe of Luana, and Frank of Fort Atkinson; and one sister, Mrs. Maud Koth of Monona.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 07, at 1:50 at the LeRoy Reardon home, and 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church, Farmersburg. Burial was at Farmersburg in the Wagner cemetery.
