Funeral services for Mrs. Hugo Blietz, 66, who died at her home in Monona Thursday, Nov. 14, after a lingering illness, were held Monday, Nov. 18, at the Schultz funeral home at one o'clock and at the Methodist church at 1:15, with the Rev. E. Wayne Hilmar in charge of the services. Burial was in the city cemetery.
Lydia Ellen, daughter of John and Mary Verhota Scheffert, was born at Froelich, Iowa, on October 20, 1891. She was educated in the rural schools of Clayton county. On Dec. 10, 1911, she was married to Hugo Blietz. To them were born four sons, two of whom died in infancy. She was a member of the Methodist church and of the Women's Society of Christian Service.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons and two sisters Mrs. Frank (Emma) Holly, and Mrs. Harold (Mathilda) Kamp. Surviving are her husband, two sons, John of Monona; Hugo Jr. of Marquette; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Mae) Oliver of Dubuque; Mrs. Augusta Cunningham of Dubuque, and Mrs. Esther Suhrada of West Los Angeles, Calif., also more distant relatives and friends.
Music for the services was provided by Mrs. Ben Frese and Mrs. George Martin, with Mrs. Ivon Schultz, organist.
Pallbearers were: Delbert Jenkins, Robert Ferguson, Frank Tayek, Alvin Kaiser, Elmer Holly, William Wiethorn, Clarence Larson, and Barney Whittle.
