DIED - In this city, of heart disease, on Tuesday evening, Feb. 16, 1872, Mrs. Harriet M. Miller, aged 48 years and 7 months.

Mrs. Miller was born in Orsego county, N.Y., and was united in marriage with Wm. B. Miller, who survives her, at Bath, N.Y., in 1843.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller removed to Iowa and settled at North McGregor in the winter of 1857-8, where they resided for a number of years, and where, in 1863, they lost by death their only son, a youth of some 16 years. After this loss, which was a sad bereavement to each, they removed to Howard county, where they remained but two years. Returning, they became residents of this city.

In 1865 Mrs. Miller united with the 1st Baptist Church of McGregor, where she retained membership and followed the life of a true and devoted Chrisian until death.

In the family, the social circle, and in the church, Mrs. M. was always the same generous, noble, and earnest woman, even caring more for those around her than for herself. As a friend she was warm and generous, as a neighbor ever obliging, as a mother kind and indulgent, and as a wife faithful and true.

In every relation of life she acted up to that noble principle of self-denial that commended her to the kind consideration of all and made her beloved and honored.
Her loss to her husband, who now has no one left except a married daughter to console and cheer him in his declining years, will be great indeed, and he has the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends, but words of sympathy to him and his bereaved daughter are idle to-day. It will take time and the consolations of that bright Gospel which the wife and mother loved so well, to heal their wounds and still their troubled hearts.

May these promises enable them to submit in meekness to the will of "Him who doeth all things well," and may they come to fully realize that their loss is her gain. - O.M.C.

Note: the son mentioned was 16 y/o William A. Miller, who is buried in Pleasant Grove with his mother.
